Ingredients
Black loose tea leaves
Rooibos loose tea leaves
A teaspoon of black pepper corns
A handful of green cardamom crushed with pestle and mortar to release spice
Add about 5 cloves
2 small cinnamon sticks
1 star anise ( taste can be intense)
1 cup of macadamia nut milk
Preparation
Bring 2 cups of water in a pan to boil
Add both the loose black tea leaves and the rooibos teal leaves to the pan
Followed by my choices of species: cardamom, cloves black pepper corns, green
cardamom, cinnamon stick, and the star anise.
Bring to boil for 4 -5 minutes. Allow the flavour to be steeped in the pot and the
colour of the water to deepen.
Then add a cup macadamia vanilla nut milk
Boil for 3 minutes
Strain tea into 2 cups and enjoy!
Optional: Some traditional Chai receipts are prepared with a generous amount of
sugar. You may wish to had locally sourced honey sourced honey according to your
palate
Optional: adding ginger and or nutmeg to the tea
